Nightingale, by Charles Strouse, 
is a musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor and the Nightingale."
I have always loved Chinese painting, done with ink, brush, and "slight color;" this seemed a good choice for a production set in China.
The large production number, "Let's go to the Forest!" had the forest coming to the cast as the trees slid in from Stage Right.
