La Tragedie de Carmen
Scenic design and stage direction for OperaDelaware, 2015
Peter Brook’s intensification of the opera was my first chance to both direct and design for OperaDelaware.
Four singers, two actors, a plot that sizzles, and a set that moves fast enough to keep up with the action.
A street in Seville to open the show.
Carmen gets all the way to a cell before Jose frees her.
Lilas Pastia's tavern.
Carmen has a Gypsy husband in the mountains, whom Jose has to kill.
EscaEscamillo prays before the corrida...millo
...but doesn't survive it.
Outside the bullring.
Carmen goes back to the mountains for her death.
