Mulan

OperaDelaware's Youth Opera performed Disney's Mulan in 2010. My scenery was based on various ancient Chinese ink paintings, mounted on triangles that could be turned in full view of the audience. The characters could "travel" by stepping in place while the scenery passed behind them.

Nightingale, by Charles Strouse, 
is a musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor and the Nightingale."
The large production number, "Let's go to the Forest!" had the forest coming to the cast as the trees slid in from Stage Right.

Fan Kuan's ninth century masterpiece, and a detail from it

Using a Chinese brush and real ink on starched muslin.

The scenic model for the "Groundrow." It stretched across the stage and rose twenty feet high at one end.
